A Fun-Filled Engagment PhotoShoot in the Ribble Valley

There are some couples you meet and you just know their wedding is going to be one hell of a party. Ricky and Natalie are definitely one of those couples!

With their wedding at the beautiful Browsholme Hall Tithe Barn in September, I’m already counting down the days until I get to photograph these two again. But before the big day arrives, we headed out into the Ribble Valley for a relaxed and fun-filled engagement photoshoot.

Relaxed, Unstaged Wedding Photography

The idea behind a pre-wedding photography session is simple: forget about stiff poses and awkward smiles, get outside, have some fun and spend a bit of time together in front of the camera. And with Nat and Rick, that was pretty much effortless.

The Ribble Valley is one of my favourite areas for photography, and it makes such a brilliant backdrop for an engagement or pre-wedding photoshoot. From rolling countryside and winding country lanes to beautiful open landscapes, there are loads of opportunities to create natural, relaxed wedding photographs.

And that’s exactly what we wanted for Ricky and Natalie.

These two are such a fun-loving couple, so the shoot was all about capturing them as they really are laughing, messing around, enjoying the countryside and, most importantly, having a good time together.

There was no need to overthink things or spend the whole session posing. We just explored, chatted, laughed and let the photographs happen naturally.

And Then There Was the Dog…

Of course, no engagement photoshoot with Ricky and Natalie would have been complete without their four-legged sidekick.

Let’s just say he wasn’t particularly interested in staying behind the camera!

Every time there was an opportunity to photobomb a picture, he was there. Honestly, I’m not sure who thought this was supposed to be Ricky and Natalie’s pre-wedding shoot because their dog seemed pretty determined to become the star of the show.

But that’s exactly what made the session so much fun.

Some of my favourite photographs are often the ones you can’t plan the unexpected moments, the laughs, the silly expressions and the little bits of chaos that tell the real story of a couple. Having their dog involved brought another layer of personality to the photographs and captured a really important part of their lives together.

Looking Ahead to Browsholme Hall Tithe Barn

Now that we’ve had the chance to get together for their Ribble Valley pre-wedding shoot, I’m even more excited for September.

Ricky and Natalie are getting married at Browsholme Hall Tithe Barn, one of the Ribble Valley’s stunning wedding venues, and I already know their wedding day is going to be packed with laughter, plenty of personality and some brilliant moments to photograph.

The pre-wedding shoot is also a great way for us to get to know each other before the wedding day. By the time September arrives, they’ll already know how I work, what to expect from me and, hopefully, they’ll feel completely comfortable having a camera around.

And that’s exactly what I want from every couple I photograph relaxed, natural photographs that feel like them.

Whether you’re planning a wedding at Browsholme Hall, another Ribble Valley wedding venue, or somewhere further afield, a pre-wedding shoot is a brilliant way to get comfortable in front of the camera and create some beautiful photographs together before the big day.

For me, it’s not about creating a collection of overly posed images. It’s about capturing the connection between two people, the laughs, the personalities and all those little moments that make their relationship theirs.

And if Ricky and Natalie’s pre-wedding shoot is anything to go by, September is going to be one seriously fun wedding!
